VENOM

Venom stands as the seminal band that not only invented black metal but also laid the groundwork for thrash, speed, death, and power metal genres. Led by the dynamic singer and bassist Cronos, Venom is celebrated as a monumental force in the music scene. They are credited with crafting a style of music that blends the fierce intensity of metal with the rebellious spirit of punk, creating an unparalleled sonic experience. Venom’s impact on the metal genre is profound, as they introduced themes and musical innovations that have influenced countless bands. Their approach to music, characterized by high energy and a refusal to conform to traditional genre limitations, makes them a pioneering act in the evolution of heavy metal, earning them the title of the ultimate rock n› roll metal punk band in the universe.

CARCASS

Carcass is an influential extreme metal band from Liverpool, England, formed in 1985. Known for their pioneering role in grindcore and melodic death metal, the band has experienced several line-up changes, with guitarist Bill Steer and bassist-vocalist Jeff Walker remaining as the core members. Carcass disbanded in 1996 but reformed in 2007, though original drummer Ken Owen was unable to return due to health issues. The band has released seven studio albums, along with two compilations, four EPs, two demos, one video album, and six music videos.

Carcass’s early work earned them a reputation for morbid themes, leading to labels like «splatter death metal» and «hardgore» due to their graphic lyrics and album art. Their fourth album, Heartwork (1993), is hailed as a cornerstone of the melodic death metal genre. Notably, they were among the few death metal bands to sign with a major label, with Columbia Records distributing Heartwork in North America.

BRUJERIA

Brujeria is an American extreme metal band formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1989. Known for their provocative Spanish lyrics, Brujeria’s music covers controversial topics such as Satanism, anti-Christianity, sex, immigration, narcotics smuggling, and politics. The band embraces Mexican imagery, reflecting their Hispanic and Latino American roots, and their name, Brujeria, translates to «witchcraft» in Spanish.

Over the years, the band has included notable members like Fear Factory guitarist Dino Cazares, drummer Raymond Herrera, Billy Gould, Nick Barker, Jeff Walker, and Shane Embury. Brujeria’s members use pseudonyms and present themselves as a group of Latino drug lords, hiding their true identities by wearing bandanas, balaclavas, and serapes. This mysterious persona is further emphasized in their videos and photographs, where they are often seen wielding machetes, maintaining a rebellious and menacing image.

MOONSORROW

The crusaders of epic heathen metal, Moonsorrow was founded in 1995 with the goal of creating metal art with a good touch of national romanticism and a distinctively pagan approach.

Between 1996 and 2001 Moonsorrow released 4 demos and an album before signing with Spinefarm. The 2nd album, Voimasta ja kunniasta was released in 2001 and its follow-up Kivenkantaja (2003) already hit the Finnish album charts at #16. It also took the band to their first shows abroad in 2004. Verisäkeet (2005) reached the charts as well, and saw Moonsorrow play their 1st show on the other side of the Atlantic and join Primordial for the band’s 1st full European tour, both in 2006.

Their 5th album, Viides luku Hävitetty included just two songs, both of them checking in at around the 30 minute mark, paving way to new heights of epic pagan art, continued on the 68-minute long “EP” Tulimyrsky with another 30-minute song.

2011 sees the release of the most majestic album of the year, Varjoina kuljemme kuolleiden maassa (As Shadows We Walk In The Land Of The Dead). Varjoina kuljemme kuolleiden maassa is a full-fledged concept album about a world after annihilation.

An all-immersing cinematic experience, which with liner lyrics and photographer Juha Arvid Helminen’s illustration complete a story about a world where stars no more shine. A world where the end is same with the beginning. A world where there is nothing but devastation, despair and death.

NAGLFAR

Formed in 1992, Umeå, Sweden’s black metal nihilists NAGLFAR were quite prolific on the front end of their existence. Between their classic 1995 debut “Vittra,” and 2012’s “Téras”, NAGLFAR unfurled four other full-lengths with no more than five years between each one. It has been a long eight-year stretch between releases for NAGLFAR, but despite the eight-year wait, the band hasn’t been resting on their laurels. Like any slumbering beast, NAGLFAR have returned from their respite ferocious and hungry with their seventh full-length album “Cerecloth”. Recorded and mixed by NAGLFAR guitarist Marcus Norman at Wolf’s Lair Studio, and mastered by Dan Swanö at Unisound, the underlying musical and lyrical themes of “Cerecloth” were succinctly and confidently described by guitarist Andreas Nilsson: “The usual death and destruction.”

ASAGRAUM

Calling the Netherlands home but featuring members from across the globe, Asagraum are taking aspects of the original black metal blueprint and filtering the sounds through psychedelic influences ensuring their music sounds vital at all times.

HELLERUIN

Helleruin is a one man black metal project from the Netherlands. With ‘’Devils, Death and Dark Arts’’ prime mover Carchost delved deeper into his soul and arsenal to bring forth six compositions that are his most dark, intricate and melodic creations to date.

WILDERUN

Wilderun has been recognized as a massive force in progressive and melodic death metal with their album «Veil of Imagination.» Critics hail the album as a groundbreaking work that redefines the symphonic metal genre, blending intense, sophisticated musical narratives with a deeply human touch. Described as an immense, engaging record of unparalleled scope, it embodies what symphonic metal aims to be. The album is praised for its beauty, astoundingly capturing a dream-like essence that invites listeners to surrender to its magical allure. Wilderun’s innovative approach enhances the progressive death metal framework, incorporating unique elements that elevate the genre. The band’s skill in composition, originality, and atmospheric energy is noted as top-tier, offering an immersive, emotionally expansive, and transcendent experience. «Veil of Imagination» is celebrated for its balance of loudness and softness, grandeur and refinement, combining epic metal with fantasy-inspired acoustic melodies in a dazzling display of musicality.

ROTTEN SOUND

Centred around founding members Mika Aalto (guitar) and Keijo Niinimaa (vocals) and rounded since 2006 by drummer Sami Latva and newcomer Matti Raappana on bass, ROTTEN SOUND endless stream of releases and shows may have been forced to a halt with the worldwide pandemic in the spring of 2020 but it somehow only did fuel even more their inner fire. The aptly titled ‘Apocalypse’ is a furious, twenty minutes plus fury of an album, eighteen tracks of some of the most raging and intense music the Finns have ever unleashed upon us. While the songwriting and recording sessions were spread over a long period of one year, ‘Apocalypse’ is as spontaneous and as in-your-face as ever. Remember that grindcore has always been a call to arms and here, the band doesn’t shoot blanks but instead has erected even bigger barricades before climbing up at its very top to throw nasty cocktail Molotov at the face of bigotry, merciless capitalism, Trump supporters, fake news spreader and whoever else has vowed to stir up chaos for the sake of it.

COLDCELL

ColdCell was founded in 2012 in Basel Switzerland and released its first album “Generation Abomination” in the following year. ColdCell is rooted in the Swiss underground black metal scene and has always been eager to put up dark and atmospheric live shows.
The impressions of the dark, eerie and extreme are expressed within ColdCell’s works like: “Lowlife” (2015), “Those” (2017) and “The Greater Evil” (2021).
With the latest album “Age Of Unreason” which was released in 2024 ColdCell furthermore ventures deeper into social abysses and explores the (un)reason of being.

DEFACED

Founded as Trigger Tones in 2006, we, as a 5-piece band from the Emmental, can look back on a diverse musical journey. Starting with cover songs from the rock/metal/punk genres, we grew through our first original anthems and today – as Defaced – we’ve found our home in death metal. This journey has shaped the versatility and openness of our music. Yet, we haven’t reached our goal – and we don’t want to! Today, we hammer earworms through your eardrums with a sledgehammer. That means: we play aggressive death metal, rounded off with catchy melodies and fine details. Tomorrow… who knows? We play in the here and now, creating what we like. For some, it may be too far beyond the norm, for others, it’s just right. This is Defaced! HELL YEAH!

UNCAVED

Uncaved is a Swiss death metal band known for blending complex, unconventional riffs with polyphonic vocal arrangements. Formed by Simon Frederik Piringer (vocals), Félicien Burkard (bass, vocals), Samuel Wiederkehr (guitar), Ralph P. Huber (guitar), and Gregor Bucher (drums), they push boundaries with their unique mix of brutality and philosophy. Their album Dogmatoraisites, recorded at Iguana Studios, features intricate compositions that deconstruct social concepts and address constructive philosophy. With diverse influences ranging from old-school death metal to progressive structures, their music reflects deep introspection and the pursuit of self-enlightenment, making them a standout in the metal scene.
